What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant I position at MILLARD LUMBER?
Responsible for reviewing incoming invoices from vendors, matching invoices to appropriate PO’s and receiving approval for payments and entering data into computer systems. Supports and handles the company’s accounting and financial transactions.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Full cycle accounts payable processing: Match invoices with receipts, process, and code invoices into the accounting system (BisTrack) and employee expense reports.
- Communicate with vendors, purchasing and staff to resolve inquiries regarding invoices and payment status.
- Handling phone and email inquiries from vendors and opens and sort’s AP mail.
- Collects credit balances along with filing and mailing out checks.
- Process Petty Cash checks
- Update and maintain vendor database; ensure proper documentation is on file for new vendors
- Responsible for reviewing invoices/credits for sales/use tax compliance. Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Responsible for General Ledger coding of expenses
- Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Aids/supports the Senior Accountant
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
Education/Experience
- Knowledge of Accounting Activities required
- Associate’s degree preferred in business, accounting, or finance field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Accounts Payable (in leu of education)
Other Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Maintenance of regular attendance
- Handle financial information with discretion and with confidentiality.
- Proficient with MS software and outlook, BisTrack experience a plus

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Normal office conditions apply. Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear, and operate computer keyboard. Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
