Typical duties of the Director of Finance include:
- Direct the property’s financial and accounting activities, including but not limited to cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue and cost allocations, payroll administration, purchasing, and capital projects
- Maintain the general ledger, manage month-end financial closing, accruals, adjustments and journal postings, bank and accounts reconciliations, operating inventory, capital and fixed assets, and related depreciations and amortizations
- Develop, implement, and manage the property’s annual operating, financial, and capital budgets and monthly forecasts in line with corporate parameters and guidelines
- Weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual filed reporting requirements. Generate balance sheets and profit and loss statements, metrics and variance analysis of actual performance against budgets, forecasts and prior periods.
- Utilize and/or create reports through Citrix, Microsoft Dynamics GP and Excel as needed.
- Schedule monthly safe audits, retail and operating inventories.
- Manage daily cash flow and position, initiate processing of wires, ACH's and Transfers as needed.
- Coordinate project conversions as they are implemented and rolled-out, e.g. PMS, credit card processing, purchasing systems, new reporting or processes, and year-end processing. Perform initial review of all contracts for the property and maintain compliance
- Coordinate internal and external property audits, manage internal controls and compliance, including compliance with PCI-DSS
- Bachelor Degree in hospitality, Finance, Accounting or Business; or equivalent experience. (College level accounting courses are required if degree is not in Accounting or Finance).
- CPA or Master Degree in Finance, Accounting or related.
- 5 years' experience as a full-service hotel controller or similar.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Micros POS and Opera.
- In-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry and legal and contractual agreements.
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills including:
- Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
- Advanced Excel user; hands-on ability to prepare, manipulate and reformulate spreadsheets.
- Project management skills and experience.
- Full understanding of PCI DSS.
- Ability to travel (if needed) for audits and emergency coverage. (Travel time ranges from 0% to 75% in any single month).
- Work as a productive team member by contributing positive energy.
