What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records Clerk (Saint Augustine) 1099 Contract/PRN position at Millennium Physician Group?
Millennium Physician Group is seeking to hire a contract/1099 Medical Records Clerk to join the Medical Office team in Saint Augustine, FL. We are looking for a new team member who is positive, energetic, well-organized, can multi-task, and think outside of the box. We want someone who supports our top initiative of ensuring an excellent patient experience!
The Medical Records Clerk position analyzes patient charts to determine items that need to be pulled and printed to release records to the patient, their designee or outside physician office. Obtains proper release signatures as needed and understands all HIPAA compliance rules. Searches system for chart history. Prints and prepares charts in proper order with requested information. Determines cost of records, collects payments for such at time of release. Meets with insurance company representatives for patient list chart pulls. May meet with patient face to face to obtain signature releases, answer questions. Understands all HIPAA requirements regarding release of Medical Records while maintaining privacy of patient. May assist answering phones for the area or assist with scanning if necessary. Other Medical Records duties may be assigned during low volume times for record releases. All other duties as assigned.
Job Standards:
- Records printed and mailed by due date
- Records printed and provided to patient by date requested
- Obtain records releases as needed
- Assists in MR dept. when not busy
- No errors in releases/all releases done correctly and to correct person.

Required Skills and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer skills and knowledge of EMR systems; Athena knowledge preferred but not required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, and balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
