Job Title: Die Cutter Operator
Job Summary: Responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Bobst/Die Cutting Machines to ensure precise, high-quality production that meets job specifications. This role involves monitoring safety, performing quality checks, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with team members to optimize efficiency and output.
What You'll Do
- Prepare for Success: Review Job Ticket details and specifications to set up the machine and gather necessary supplies accurately.
- Master the Machine: Utilize your knowledge of setup, adjustment procedures, and equipment capabilities to operate the Bobst / Die Cutting Machine with precision and efficiency.
- Optimize Production: Set up the machine to specified speeds and production rates and get approval from the Supervisor for setup configurations.
- Ensure Quality: Operate the machine to produce the designated product, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout the production process.
- Test and Verify: Conduct tests on samples to verify correct paper properties and characteristics before full-scale production.
- Maintain Standards: Continuously compare production output to samples to ensure accuracy and inspect output skids for cutting, scoring, and die positions.
- Document Everything: Keep detailed records both on skids and within Job Jackets, complete the Bindery Log and Die Cutter Tracking Form accurately and promptly.
- Monitor Safety: Keep an eye on the machine for safety issues, request maintenance as needed, and clean and maintain machinery regularly.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors and team members, and complete any additional tasks assigned to support the overall objectives of the position.
What You'll Bring
- Experience: Proven experience operating Bobst / Die Cutting Machines or similar equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of job ticket details, specifications, and production processes. Proficiency in troubleshooting machine issues and performing basic maintenance tasks.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards throughout production.
- Communication: Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications are a plus.
How You Will Be Successful
- Communication: Effectively relay job requirements and specifications to your team to ensure smooth operations and successful project completion.
- Action-Oriented: Proactively address challenges, such as material discrepancies or mechanical issues, to avoid production delays.
- Teamwork: Work closely with other team members, including the Press Operator and warehouse staff, to ensure consistent quality and efficiency in printing operations.
- Attention to Detail: Take pride in your work by ensuring 100% accuracy in product setup, material handling, and press operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Look for opportunities to streamline the press setup and printing processes, contributing to both efficiency and quality improvement.
What to Expect in the Workplace
- Physical Demands: Perform tasks such as carrying, lifting, bending, and standing for long periods. You may need to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 25 pounds frequently.
- Work Environment: Primarily in a manufacturing plant with temperature extremes, moderate noise levels, and moving equipment. Work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, and dry).
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): You will be required to wear PPE, such as ear protection, eye protection, safety shoes, and a high-visibility vest, as necessary.
- Frequent Movement: Use of hands, arms, and wrists in controlled movements. Walking between work areas and using electronic devices and office equipment will be part of your day-to-day tasks.
