JOB DESCRIPTION:

Miller Construction Services, a trusted leader in the industry, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Commercial Construction Superintendent to join our team. This individual plays a pivotal role in driving project success through effective leadership and management. This position involves overseeing all aspects of construction operations, ensuring that the team has the necessary resources to execute projects efficiently and to the highest standards. The superintendent will be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment, maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, and upholding safety and quality throughout the construction process.

Travel Component: The construction superintendent will primarily work on a project located in Manassas, VA with an expected duration of 1.5-2 years. We ideally seek candidates who reside near this area but are also open to hiring individuals who are willing to travel to Manassas for the duration of the project. Once the project is complete, there will be opportunities for travel to other sites/projects.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage a team of workers and subcontractors, overseeing work schedules, project progress, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, and construction teams to establish budgets and timelines.
  • Coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely project execution.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
  • Oversee the construction process, proactively identifying and resolving issues that arise on-site.
  • Develop and manage work schedules for team members and subcontractors, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Maintain comprehensive daily logs of job site operations and report key updates to management.
  • Conduct regular job site meetings with clients and subcontractors to discuss progress and address any concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards, implementing best practices throughout the project.
  • Oversee the completion of final punch lists and ensure all projects are finished to specifications before they are closed or occupied.
  • Act as the primary liaison with local jurisdictions, coordinating inspections and approvals as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned

ROLE REQUIRMENTS:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or similar field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a construction superintendent, preferably in commercial construction.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and relationship-building.
  • Highly organized, with strong time management capabilities to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Project, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with construction management software and tools is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to project management.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Teamwork orientation.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Possess excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask several projects at once.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable individual
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
  • Must be confident in the operation of ladders, scissor lifts, pallet jacks or other devices as needed.
  • Job requires full body mobility.
  • Must be able to work safely in varied environments around hazardous commercial equipment.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including commercial kitchens, warehouses, and industrial facilities.
  • Exposure to cold environments and varying weather conditions.

Salary and Benefits:

The compensation for this position ranges from $80,000.00 - $120,000.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus and/or merit increases. Miller Construction Services provides comprehensive benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation and sick time. Eligibility requirements apply.
