Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with Medicare standards and regulations while coordinating the assessment for residents in the nursing home. The MDS Coordinator will utilize their knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and coding systems to enhance resident care and support interdisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents using the Minimum Data Set (MDS) to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans based on assessment findings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicare regulations and guidelines related to MDS assessments and documentation.
- Utilize eClinicalWorks or similar electronic health record systems for documentation and data management.
- Ensure accurate coding using ICD-9 standards for diagnoses and procedures.
- Provide training and support to clinical staff on MDS processes, documentation standards, and best practices.
- Monitor quality indicators and outcomes related to MDS submissions to identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care strategies and progress.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and relevant healthcare standards.
- Previous experience in a clinical setting such as a clinic, hospital, or nursing home is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of Medicare regulations and MDS assessment processes is essential.
