What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at Miller Elementary?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our therapeutic classroom (Pathways program). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges. This role involves creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), delivering specialized instruction, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Special Education
- DESE certification in Special Education (Moderate or Severe)
- Experience working in a therapeutic or special education setting
- Strong understanding of individualized instruction, behavior management, and therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certification or training in therapeutic techniques or behavioral interventions.
- Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders.
- Knowledge of current best practices and research in special education and therapeutic teaching methods.
