What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Litigation Attorney position at Miller, George & Suggs, PLLC?
Miller, George & Suggs, PLLC is currently in a period of rapid growth. We are looking for a 3 - 10 year associate for a commercial litigation practice with a heavy emphasis on real property litigation.
Essential Duties:
- Represent clients in commercial and real property litigation cases, including breach of contract, fraud, errors and omissions, and statutory claims (FDUTPA, FDCPA, FCRA).
- Handle foreclosure litigation on behalf of lenders.
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and briefs, and manage all phases of litigation.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Develop case strategies and advise clients on legal risks and potential outcomes.
- Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolutions when appropriate.
- Handle appellate matters according to experience level (appellate experience is preferred).
- Maintain high ethical and professional standards in all aspects of practice.
- Meet billable hour requirement of 1,600 hours per year.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Licensed to practice law in Florida.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial litigation.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Aptitude for trial work with experience handling litigation matters from inception to resolution.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
- High level of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Appellate experience is a plus.
Compensation will be based on experience.
In-Person - One day remote is acceptable.
