Position Purpose:

Working with little or no supervision, the Precision Farming Specialist will apply geospatial technologies, including geographic information systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS), to agricultural production and management activities and will use computers to develop and analyze maps and remote sensing images to compare physical topography with data on soils, yield monitoring, fertilizer, pests, or weather. The Precision Farming Specialist will work with the AFS Support Center, other AFS team members, and also directly with customers to install, train, troubleshoot, and support all aspects of technology, including guidance systems, mapping, autopilot, monitors, and service tools. This person is also responsible for providing excellent customer service and for completing general duties to support the dealership.

Qualifications:

• Degree in an Agriculture/GPS related major or equivalent experience
• AFS Precision Farming market knowledge preferred
• Valid driver license and insurability required as local travel is required
• Self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment, meet all deadlines, and keep excellent records
• Excellent communication and people skills to be able to communicate with developers and programmers on high level issues as well as being able to easily and accurately convey information to other employees and customers with limited knowledge
• Must possess good business aptitude and be capable of providing a high level of support
• Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for communications, trainings, and effectively organize, analyze, and manage data
• Excellent attendance and ability to work overtime as needed
• Must meet physical requirements for this position

Essential Job Functions:

• Work with management to develop and execute precision agriculture farming marketing plan.
• Work with other staff members on precision farming sales and on independent sales within the dealership’s assigned territory.
• Provide upper level support, phone or on-site to branch personnel or customers on issues above their capabilities and serve as the technical specialist relative to the entire precision agriculture product line
• Provide training sessions for dealership personnel and customers at clinics or other dealership or branch events as well as arrange for a precision farming field day to showcase products
• Handle customer satisfaction issues related to the product line
• Work closely with the Parts Manager to control and keep track of precision farming inventory and work with branches on inventory requests
• Work with sales staff on precision farming demo program, especially on new tractor/combine/planter deals
• Keep current on precision farming product offerings, new technologies, trends, and challenges and attend training as required in order to make educated recommendations to others
• Work with the AFS Support Center
• Greet and assist customers and respond promptly in a professional and positive manner to customer inquiries and complaints
• Ability to work well with other personnel and to be able to coach/train employees as it pertains to precision farming

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $48,500.00 per year
