Job Title: Student Worker - Conference Services Event Manager Academic Year 2024-2025
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Student Worker to join our team as an Event Manager in the Office of Conference Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing various events, including conferences, camps, and tournaments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Onsite front-line management for conferences and camps.
- Creating and managing timelines for event planning and execution.
- Coordinating event staff and vendors on the day of the event.
- Handling any issues that arise during the event and finding solutions.
- FOLLOWING UP WITH CLIENTS AFTER THE EVENT TO GATHER FEEDBACK AND ENSURE SATISFACTION.
- Processing and preparing documents, such as request forms, vendor spreadsheets, and invoices.
- Greeting and assisting guests, clients, and university department faculty and staff at events coordinated by the Office of Conference Services.
- Assisting with management of event logistics, including guest/client arrivals, concierge services, and facility management duties.
- Working with MU campus departments and offices sponsoring, hosting, and/or coordinating events, including Athletics, University Dining & Catering Services, University Housing & Conference Services, Facilities/Maintenance Operations, Groundskeeping, Housekeeping, and University Police, academic offices/departments, and other university offices/departments as necessary to run a successful and safe event.
- Assisting with coordination of safety and security protocols for indoor and outdoor events as it relates to inclement weather and last-minute facility adjustments.
- Maintaining a valuable and helpful representation of Millersville University through exceptional customer service.
- Leading a small team of event staff.
Requirements:
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Outstanding organizational skills with strict attention to detail.
- Strong inter-personal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in diverse, flexible, fast-paced, and dynamic environments.
- Ability to work with guests of all ages from small children to senior citizens.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Good problem-solving skills as it relates to last-minute event plan changes or conflict resolution with client or campus partner.
- Willingness to perform various duties as assigned by the manager on duty.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Management experience preferred.
- Previous experience working in retail services, customer service, and theaters/venues/sports.
- Ability to participate in the physical nature of the event: standing or sitting for long periods of time, lifting items, walking or guiding capabilities.
- Vehicle access to get to shifts at various venues on campus.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

- Ability to work outdoors in all climate conditions.
