Job Title: Student Worker - International Programs & Services Coordinator
About the Job
This is a student worker position in the Office of International Programs and Services (IPS) at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. The coordinator will support various units within IPS, including Education Abroad and Partnerships, International Student and Scholar Services, Digital Engagement, and International Enrollment Management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for students, parents, faculty, staff, and guests.
- Answer phones, respond to general email inquiries, and file documentation.
- Perform specific duties for an assigned key contribution area within the IPS Office.
Key Contribution Areas
Education Abroad and Partnerships
- Assist with study abroad requirements before, during, and after programs.
- Promote study abroad opportunities to students via presentations and events.
- Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate IPS events and activities.
International Student and Scholar Services/English Language Institute/International Enrollment Management
- Assist with event planning, promotion, implementation, and evaluation.
- Track student data and manage paperwork related to international student enrollment and engagement.
- Generate new ideas for international student and scholar outreach and engagement.
Digital Engagement
- Schedule and post content on social media accounts.
- Support marketing and communications through poster design, newsletter preparation, and other projects.
- Research and write articles for IPS publications and promote them with the campus community.
International Enrollment Management
- Respond to inquiries from prospective international students and provide information about the university.
- Counsel prospective international students and their families regarding admissions processes.
- Represent the university virtually at recruitment events.
Requirements
- Must demonstrate interest in intercultural issues.
- Must be patient and sensitive to culturally and linguistically diverse students.
- Ability to multitask and work with multiple projects at one time.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience traveling internationally, studying abroad, or living overseas.
- Active presence on campus through campus networks or other positions.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and design software.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Work may be conducted in a typical office environment or outside.
