Collect University mail from the US Postal Service at Millersville. A volume of 2 million-plus pieces annually consisting of newspapers, magazines, first class, registered mail, certified mail, insured mail, and parcels. Assist in sorting the mail for distribution to all offices (60 in number) and 4 residence dormitories.

Assist in sorting and delivering incoming and campus mail for faculty, staff, students, contractors, and subcontractors.Scan all accountable packages to obtain signatures when packages are delivered and / or picked up by recipients.Deliver sorted mail and accountables, assisted by full-time and / or student employees, to offices and dormitories ensuring that all accountables are documented and endorsed. Maintain safety and security of all mail.Collect mail designated for off-campus and on-campus from all locations on campus and return to the mailroom for sorting.Operates Postage Meter, by account numbers, of all off-campus mail. Deliver off-campus mail to the U.S.P.S. in Millersville. Sorts outgoing mail by type to obtain the best pricing.Redirect mail to students, staff, and Faculty. Refer to appropriate sources to determine new addresses or campus locations or return to the Post Office if an individual cannot be located. Maintain records of returned or refused mail with the reason. Sign as the employee responsible for certified and registered mail. Also, sign and accept responsibility for mail and packages delivered by overnight delivery services (e.g. UPS, DSL and FedEx ) . If the parcel is for faculty or staff, the clerk delivers the package to the recipient and obtains their signature.Wait on the counter which may consist of selling stamps, weighing packages for proper postage, handing out packages, receiving mail and / or packages to be mailed out, etc. Answers questions from students and staff and gives directions around the campus as well as the Millersville area.Operate all equipment within Mail / I.D. Services. This consists of the postage meter, electronic scales, postal computer, I.D. computer system which is used to take I.D. photos and process I.D. cards, and other services as required. Advising students on the proper care of ID cards and penalties for damage or loss to their ID cards.Operates a 5-ton truck to obtain and deliver mail and for other purposes as needed. Maintain a neat and clean delivery vehicle by sweeping and discarding any accumulated trash within the vehicle. Make sure the vehicle is in safe operating condition by periodically checking tire pressure, filling the vehicle with gas, and making sure the vehicle receives periodic inspections by University garage mechanics.During winter responsible for cleaning snow or ice off of the delivery truck; also responsible for shoveling any snow from the lift and from around the loading dock area and delivery truck.Practices safety measures to prevent accidents and injuries, also to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
