Description of Essential Duties:
• Overall responsibility for managing the Site/Civil & Foundation and vertical concrete Shaft departments, ensuring the smooth execution of all related tasks. • Develop and oversee the production schedule for all foundation and civil/site work to ensure timely and efficient completion. • Attend weekly scheduling meetings with Operations and monthly project review meetings with Operations and Finance to track progress.
Operational Leadership:
• Lead and manage all concrete operations, encompassing production, quality control, logistics, and project management. • Develop and execute operational strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability. • Provide engineering design guidance to our engineers for vertical concrete and foundation work, ensuring technical excellence. • Ensure all operations comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies. • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports, ensuring compliance with project requirements. • Collaborate with the Engineering Department to address design and constructability challenges. • Mentor foremen and new employees, providing guidance for growth. • Establish, monitor, and enforce field quality control procedures. • Troubleshoot concrete, piping, and sitework issues in the field to maintain smooth operations. • Develop and manage training and educational programs for civil and concrete department staff. • Maintain strong working relationships with key vendors and negotiate vendor pricing. • Manage equipment budgeting, purchasing, maintenance, and safety within the department. • Represent the company to clients in the concrete, piping, and sitework phases of projects. • Respond to all concrete, piping, and sitework-related queries from internal and external sources. • Coordinate repairs with the project management team or other departments. • Stay informed on the latest concrete and piping technologies and regulatory changes. • Available year-round to address any operational challenges as they arise.
Quality Assurance:
• Establish and maintain a robust quality control system to ensure concrete work meets the highest industry standards. • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to quality protocols. • Address and resolve quality concerns swiftly to maintain operational excellence.
Safety and Compliance:
• Cultivate a safety-first culture, ensuring all operations comply with health and safety regulations. • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures. • Conduct regular safety training and drills to ensure staff are well-prepared.
Team Management:
• Lead and develop a high-performing team, including managers, supervisors, and production staff. • Set clear performance goals, conducting regular performance reviews and addressing any gaps. • Foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment that drives team success. • Optimize supply chain processes to minimize costs and improve service levels.
Customer Relations:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders. • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner. • Ensure customer satisfaction through consistent service and high-quality work.
Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency. • Use Lean methodologies to drive continuous improvement within the team. • Stay up to date on industry trends and innovations to keep the company at the forefront of the market.
Financial Management:
• Develop and manage the operational budget, including forecasting and financial reporting. • Monitor financial performance, identifying and implementing cost-saving strategies. • Provide regular operational performance reports to senior management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervise the Civil/Site and Foundation Operations Managers directly. • Oversee the execution of supervisory duties, including training, assigning tasks, appraising performance, addressing employee concerns, and managing employee performance in line with company policies and applicable laws.
Qualification Requirements:
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate substantial experience in concrete operations. This includes:
• A minimum of 10 years of concrete industry experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. • In-depth experience in vertical concrete construction methods. • Proven track record in managing large-scale concrete operations and driving continuous improvements.
Additional requirements include:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field. • Professional Engineering License (PE).
