What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll/HR Assistant position at Millis Public Schools?
The Millis Public Schools, a high-performing Massachusetts school district, is currently looking for a Payroll and Human Resources Assistant. Payroll duties would include assisting with the processing of bi-weekly payroll, including data entry, ensuring accurate and timely payment of employee wages and deductions, and responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues. Human Resource Duties would include assisting with employee onboarding, including new hire paperwork, background checks, and benefits enrollment, maintaining employee personnel files, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, assisting with the administration of employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, Massachusetts Teacher Retirement, 403(b), and paid time off, assisting with the recruitment and selection process, and providing general administrative support to the HR department, such as answering phones, scheduling meetings, and managing calendars. The hours for this part time, benefited position would be 11 AM to 4 PM Monday Through Friday with additional hours available on occasion if desired. Benefits include health insurance, sick, personal, and vacation time, and additional benefits that the employee may purchase at their expense, such as vision and dental insurance. Millis is willing to train the right candidate, but the ideal applicant will have 1-2 years of experience in a payroll or human resources role, be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), or Google Sheets and Docs, be experienced with payroll software with MUNIS experience strongly preferred. Millis will be looking for candidates with strong organizational and time management skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy, strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
