What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatch/Customer Service Floater position at Millis Transfer?
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients and customers via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Assist customers with inquiries, concerns, and requests regarding transportation management and logistics services.
- Utilize transportation management systems and GPS technology to track and monitor shipments.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, drivers, and carriers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently to update customer records and track shipment details.
- Collaborate with the fleet management team to coordinate transportation schedules and optimize routes.
- Resolve customer complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of transportation industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
Dispatch responsibilities
- Line drivers up on loads to optimize their hours of service to make pick up and deliveries on time.
- Facilitate driver home times
- Communicate with drivers daily with load specific instructions
- Run fuel reports and work with drivers to maintain compliance
- Run idle reports and work with drivers to maintain and acceptable truck idle percentage
- Coach drivers on Lytx driver cam events
- Communicate with customer service on delays or issues with loads/appt times
- Schedule truck maintenance as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in customer service or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent phone etiquette and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of logistics, fleet management, or 3PL (third-party logistics) operations is a plus.
