Primary Function:

The Director of Outpatient Psychiatric Services is responsible for overseeing and supporting the Outpatient Medical Team, including clinical consultation and direction when needed, supporting compliance, clinical best practices, and generally being a go-to resource for psychiatric providers. The director is responsible for setting and meeting performance goals, financial goals, and other measures of success for outpatient psychiatric medication management at the practice. The director must have good decision-making skills and the ability to think globally, attend to detail, and creatively collaborate with colleagues and direct reports.

Overall, the Director of Outpatient Psychiatric Services plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the provision of mental health care to individuals seeking psychiatric treatment in an outpatient setting. Their responsibilities encompass clinical, managerial, administrative, and strategic functions aimed at ensuring the well-being of patients and the success of the mental health practice.

Essential Functions:

  • Center Organizational Culture Principles & Diversity, Equity, Access and Inclusion Initiatives: You will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that reflect our OCPs and promote diversity, equity, access, and inclusion.
  • Participate in Strategic Planning: As a member of the management team, you will need to participate in strategic planning and decision-making to ensure that the practice achieves its goals and objectives. This may involve developing and implementing new initiatives, identifying opportunities for growth, facilitating organizational change and growth initiatives, and collaborating with other departments within the practice.
  • Clinical Oversight: The director is responsible for maintaining high standards of clinical care provided by psychiatrists, PMHNPs, and other mental health professionals in the outpatient psychiatric setting. They may provide clinical supervision, guidance, and support to the treatment teams, ensuring that evidence-based practices are followed and that patient care is of the highest quality.
  • Program Development and Implementation: The director may be involved in the development and implementation of new programs, services, or treatment modalities within the outpatient psychiatric department. This could involve introducing innovative approaches to therapy, specialized treatment tracks, or other initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes.
  • Staff Management: The director is typically responsible for hiring, training, and managing clinical and administrative staff within the outpatient psychiatric department. This includes conducting performance evaluations, addressing staffing needs, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensuring that the outpatient psychiatric services comply with relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards is a crucial aspect of this role. The director may develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain compliance and ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
  • Patient Care Coordination: The director may play a role in coordinating patient care across different mental health professionals within the outpatient setting.   • Budgeting and Resource Management: The director is often responsible for managing the budget for the outpatient psychiatric department.   • Performance Improvement: Monitoring and assessing the performance of the outpatient psychiatric services is essential for identifying areas for improvement.   • Direct Patient Care: 20% of the director’s time will be spent on direct patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters degree in Nursing, or a doctoral degree in Medicine from an AMA accredited university.
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Oregon with full prescriptive authority and DEA certificate in good standing.
  • Experience: Previous experience in outpatient psychiatric services is essential, preferably in a management or leadership role.
  • Leadership skills: The director must have strong leadership and management skills to effectively lead a team of psychiatric providers, supervise and evaluate clinical staff, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the outpatient psychiatric services.
  • Business acumen: The director should have a good understanding of the financial and business aspects of the practice, including budgeting, billing, and revenue generation.
  • Clinical skills: The director should be knowledgeable in a variety of approaches and have experience working with a diverse patient population.
  • Communication skills: The director must be able to effectively communicate with patients, staff, and other healthcare providers.
  • Organizational skills: The director should be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Compliance: The director must be knowledgeable of all applicable legal and ethical standards, including HIPAA regulations and state licensing requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $135,000.00 per year
