We are seeking married couples to join our team as House Parents, providing a nurturing family-like structure for our students. As House Parents, you will be responsible for guiding a group of 8-12 students, managing daily responsibilities, and fostering an educational environment.
Job Description
As a House Parent at Milton Hershey School, you will:
- Provide a consistent family-like structure for students
- Guide and support students in their academic and personal growth
- Manage daily responsibilities, including driving, administering medication, and budgeting
- Liaise with school staff to ensure student needs are met
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Have experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings
- Be a legally married couple for at least two years
- Be aged 27 or older
- Have no more than three dependent children residing in the student home
- Abide by a smoke-free and weapon-free campus policy
- Limitations on pets apply; only fish and one dog of approved breeds are permitted
- Hold a valid driver's license and be able to become certified to drive student home vans
- Be comfortable leading students in daily devotions and taking them to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services (Note: Proselytizing is prohibited)
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are role models for students
