Families Make a Difference
At Milton Hershey School, we believe that families can make a significant impact on the lives of our students. As a flex houseparent, you and your spouse will have the opportunity to guide and nurture a group of approximately 8-12 students, providing them with a consistent family-like structure. You will handle responsibilities such as driving, administering medication, budgeting, reporting, and daily devotions. Initially, flex houseparents cover different student homes before being assigned to one specific home.
Support for Families
We understand the importance of supporting families in their roles as flex houseparents. That's why we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including free housing, meals while on duty, utilities, and more. The total annual compensation for each couple is approximately $150,000. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; health savings and flexible spending accounts; life insurance; disability options; and retirement savings. Relocation assistance and paid training are also provided.
Requirements
Couples must have experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings. Both spouses should be at least 27 years old, legally married for at least two years, and not have more than three dependent children residing in the student home. Couples must abide by a smoke-free and weapon-free campus and have valid driver's licenses to drive student home vans. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
