Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Recreation, this position would be responsible for overseeing the King Community Center, Kosciuszko Community Center, Wilson Ice Arena, and Sports Complex/Froemming Park. Work with management team on daily operations, procedures, policy, membership recruitment, programs, marketing, and partnerships to ensure growth and activation at each site.
Schedule: This position will work during regular business hours with occasional holidays, nights and weekends required.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership and Management - Mentor and lead on site managers and teams. Work with managers to ensure policy and procedure are followed, buildings are maintained, staff is trained to parks standards, and facilities are maintained and clean.
Programming and Activation - Work with onsite managers, current partners, community partners and businesses to bring activation and programming to community centers. Work with renters/shows/expositions/events for sports complex and Wilson Ice Arena.
Administration/Program Management - Track memberships/attendance figures of programs/special events. Meet deadlines and directives from senior management. Prepare/analyze a variety of reports used to increase efficiencies. Maintain relationships with internal and external partners and departments.
Manage Revenue and Budget - Track/meet revenue goals and create ways to generate revenue (e.g., sports leagues, new fitness programs, etc.). Track usage of commodities, services, and labor to maintain services while adhering to budgets. Work with team on creating efficiencies within their facilities.
Parks Liaison - Act as parks liaison to an advisory group, evaluate needs/proper usage of funds, compliance of bylaws, and adherence to park policy and fundamentals. Work side by side with the boards, organize special events/fundraisers, and define needs and opportunities for grants.
Equity and Inclusion - Work with county wide initiatives on equity and inclusion. Working to diversify the workforce, community engagement and partnerships.
Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences
Current residency within the State of Wisconsin upon application required
Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required and must be maintained throughout incumbency
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Recreation, Sports Management or closely related field and three (3) years or more of work experience in Recreation, Program Management, Athletics or Community Centers OR a High School Diploma and seven (7) years or more of work experience in Recreation, Program Management, Athletics or Community Centers required
Three (3) years or more of work experience in a Supervisory or Management role required
Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams required
First Aid certification required or must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire
CPR certification required or must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire
AED certification required or must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire
