JOB SUMMARY
Operation of some (but not all) production machines such as SMT Pick & Place, Through-Hole Component Insertion, Sequencing Machine, Wave Flow and Reflow Solder Machines. Level 1 of 3 of Machine Operator classification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Set up machinery and perform minor machine maintenance per documented instructions.
- Run product through machine with quality and efficiency.
- Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
- Correct defects when possible or route defective material for rework or repair.
- Follow appropriate quality policies and procedures.
- Perform work to appropriate efficiency and utilization standards.
- Participate in work group/team activities. Must be a positive and dependable team member, adaptive & supportive of change. Practice and participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean activities. Provide input to problem solving process and possess good communication skills.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- The work performed in this job can only be done on site; therefore, attendance is an essential function of the job.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. A minimum of one-year related experience and/or training in electronics industry.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, speak, and understand English to enable clear communication & comprehension of documentation.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic math skills will be required to add, subtract, multiply & divide. Basic understanding of & ability to read performance graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to understand and determine product quality to written documentation.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Able to perform basic data entry transactions.
- Must achieve passing score on the IPC Component Identification course.
- Must achieve a passing score on the IPC Workmanship standards exam.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Vision requirements include close & distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
