Milwaukee Recreation is seeking a dedicated and highly qualified park maintenance professional to assist with the supervision, training, and assigning of work for a team of 10 full-time and approximately 20 part- time seasonal staff responsible for maintaining 52 outdoor playfields throughout the city of Milwaukee.
Primary responsibilities include staff supervision, training, work delegation, maintenance support, facility inspections, and assisting with vegetation management. The ideal candidate is capable of leading and supervising employees, teaching and mentoring staff, and maximizing efficiencies and productivity.
Candidates with experience in park maintenance management who are capable of advancing the care of Milwaukee Recreations outdoor recreation spaces to the next level are encouraged to apply.
Salary Range: $62,689.53 - $90,032.77

Education Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Forestry; Parks and Recreation Management; Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related field.
- May substitute eight (8) years of full-time experience in the absence of a bachelors degree.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum one (1) year of full-time experience in park management including: Developing staff training; hands-on maintenance of grounds, buildings, vehicles, facilities; and experience utilizing the Microsoft Office suite and maintenance management software applications.
Certifications (and/or ability to obtain within one year of hire):
- Class C Drivers License
- Pesticide Applicator License
- CPSI (Certified Playground Safety Inspector)
- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist
- Plans, coordinates, manages, and supervises the inspection and maintenance of Milwaukee Recreation's playfields and recreation facilities.
- Supervises, evaluates and provides performance feedback to full-time Groundskeepers and part-time Seasonal Groundskeepers.
- Coordinates with the Recreation Managers to plan employee workloads and prioritize projects.
- Assists in developing solutions to provide safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing recreation facilities for community use.
- Ensures that maintenance work is completed in compliance with all laws, regulations, policies, and safety standards.
- Provides support to staff as needed to assist with performing maintenance tasks.
- Creates comprehensive plans for training full-time Groundskeepers and part-time Seasonal Groundkeepers.
- Monitors inventories and assures that adequate materials, supplies, and tools are available.
- Reports and resolves safety conditions and security concerns.
- Determines need for equipment and materials purchases.
- Meets regularly with Recreation Facilities and Maintenance Managers regarding the assisting with the implementation of the Recreation Maintenance Management Plan.
- Assists with Recreation Department activities as needed.
- Serves on various community or Department committees as required or assigned.
- Actively supports the Five Priorities for Success.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
