Job Summary
Provides supervision, direction and delegation of tasks for Systems Administrators and other assigned staff. Organizes workloads to ensure deadlines are met. Develops and updates detailed project plans. Monitors and reports on work in progress and ensures compliance with project plans. Ensures that all installations, maintenance, and upgrades are carried out on schedule and to project specifications. In addition to providing direct supervision to others, this position requires the incumbent to complete other self-identified or district assigned tasks and assignments throughout their workday. Requires the ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and become a functional expert on assigned systems to support district needs. Requires frequent collaboration with other departments and professionals in the development of IT systems.
The salary range is: $87,000 - $125,355

Qualifications
- 3-5 five years of increasingly responsible experience in information technology related to systems administration; including at least 3 years providing technical and functional supervision over a group of system administrators or IT professionals.
- Bachelor¿s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to write technical specifications, operational and end user documentation.
- Has broad knowledge of various technical alternatives and their potential impact on the business.
- Familiarity with physical and virtual Windows servers, WMware, and Linux based servers, Active Directory including group policy, Palo Alto firewalls, content filtering, and cloud systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Amazon AWS, and Microsoft Entra (Azure).
- Familiarity with security tools (SIEM, Endpoint protection, Forensics, Firewalls, Scanners, Penetration testing, etc.).
- Ability to supervise and direct teams and work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to identify relevant projects and tasks and delegate assignments as needed.
- Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance.
- Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support planned and unplanned outages and upgrades.
- Strong analytical abilities and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff.
- Must be able to meet multiple deadlines with set yet varying deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Provides supervision, direction and delegation of daily tasks and long-term projects for Systems Administrators and other assigned staff.
- Organizes and monitors staff workloads to ensure deadlines are met and schedules work assignments in order of priority.
- Assists with completing internal and public open records requests.
- Assists with completing any required internal and external audits.
- Assists with developing and maintaining the district¿s Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Develops and maintains detailed project plans.
- Monitors and reports on work in progress and ensures compliance with project plans.
- Attends all project meetings and ensures appropriate subordinate staff are in attendance.
- Ensures that all application and hardware installations, maintenance, and upgrades are carried out on schedule and to project specifications.
- Monitors IT systems maintenance, licenses, and support contracts and assists with obtaining renewal quotes.
- Coordinates and participates in an on-call support schedule.
- Assists with the training and evaluation of direct reports and other assigned staff
- Serves as a technical resource to investigate any emerging technologies considered by the organization and to provide direction, based on research and analysis, of the feasibility and reality of the technology considered.
- Ability to effectively direct, develop, design and implement new technologies and coordinating with different functional areas as required.
- Supports a culture of organizational security by working closely with District IT staff to research and implement best practices.
- Participates in the Systems Administrators community, through mailing lists, forum discussions or news groups, to keep current of any new developments.
- Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
