POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Stagehand - Electrics (ASH-E) is a short-term, one-production position that is an integral part of our staff, and will work alongside the I.A.T.S.E. stagehands from load-in to strike on our production of Come From Away. The ASH-E will have hands on learning in the hang and focus of lighting instruments (conventional and automated), wiring of practicals, and participate in the running of the production as the spotlight operator. Additional opportunities in video as well as hands on experience in other technical areas are available as the schedule allows and employee requests.
Major Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Work with I.A.T.S.E stagehands to load-in, tech, run, and strike Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s production of Come From Away.
- Run spotlight for Come From Away.
- Assist resident crew with creating and maintaining a safe stage and work area.
SCHEDULE
Hours are based around the performance schedule which includes evenings, weekends, and some afternoons. This is a single production position running October 6, 2025 to December 14, 2025.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
Technical Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience interpreting lighting plots and working with a variety of lighting instruments.
- Comfortable working in catwalks and on personnel lifts.
- A basic understanding of general and theatrical electricity.
- Some experience working in a professional technical theater environment and a desire to build a foundation for a career in the industry.
- This is an educational position and does not assume an extensive depth of experience; a desire to learn, the ability to self-start, multitask, troubleshoot, and adapt quickly are most important.
