ASSISTANT DEAN OF STUDENTS
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Cross Trainers Academy (CTA) is a K4-12th grade Christian Academy in the heart of Milwaukee, serving students and families who are searching for a strong academic learning experience in a gospel-centered environment. As a Choice School, CTA is committed to offering a comprehensive, student-centered educational experience that serves the whole student.
Cross Trainers Academy is seeking a full-time Assistant Dean of Students (Middle School or High School) for the 2022-23 school year. The individual in this role will build proactive relationships with students, teachers, administrative staff, and parents and champion the mission and vision of Cross Trainers Academy through restorative practices and addressing disciplinary issues.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday 7:00am-4:00pm, Tuesday-Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm. This is an hourly position that can be annual (12 month) or a 10-month commitment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support, model, and disseminate the functions of the school to be consistent with the philosophy, mission and values of CTA
- Parent contact regarding student misbehavior, attendance issues, and “good news” incentives
- Nurture relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Actively walking halls and classrooms and proactively engaging with students and faculty; reinforcing building-wide expectations for behavior systems and effective classroom management
- Support Dean of Students with projects and initiatives as appropriate
- Support a restorative disciplinary process using the TLAC (Teach Like a Champion) approach designed to maximize student learning and reduce behavioral disruptions with students
- Oversee Resilience Room by implementing time-outs, in-school suspension, positive behavioral intervention and support to students
- Participate in programs, activities, and resources to provide student enrichment as assigned by the Dean of Students
- Active team member of the daily bus arrival and dismissal procedures and for the breakfast, lunch, and recess schedule and supervision process
- Complete home visitations when needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience in facilitating or supervising youth ministry and/or youth activities
- Culturally competent and relational with excellent organization, interpersonal communication and mentoring skills
- An authentic, eager and influential role model with the ability to motivate and inspire
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students, families and colleagues
- Possess a personality of patience and composure with children and adults
- Proven skills in leadership, group facilitation, marketing, communication, and data collection
- Competent in the following platforms: Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Power School
- A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive
- Must be able to handle physical workload – ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, walking, stair climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, occasional lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 35 lbs. a short distance (ex: floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly, as well as intervening in physical confrontations between students if necessary.
- Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
- Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
