CITY CAMP GROUP LEAD - SEASONAL/SUMMER POSITION
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission (MRM) runs a 6-week day camp for youth K4-7th grade at our North Campus, June 16th-July 25th. MRM provides students with breakfast and lunch, engaging curriculum in reading and math, Bible themes, fun recreational activities, and field trips on Friday.
We are seeking seasonal full-time Group Leads, who have a love and passion to share Christ with children, to instruct students enrolled in our camp by utilizing the provided curriculum to guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic and spiritual potential. This includes supervision, instruction, mentoring, and participation with urban youth in recreational camp activities and field trips throughout the duration of City Camp.
PAY RATE: $18.00/hour

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Seasonal Position, June 11th through July 25th.
- Staff orientation: June 11th-June 13th, 8:00am-4:00pm.
- Camp runs Monday-Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm, June 16th- July 25th (off June 19th, July 3rd & 4th)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Plan, prepare, and deliver curriculum
- Create a positive Christian, educational atmosphere for students to learn in
- Create activities designed to enhance curriculum
- Develop and integrate incentives to keep students engaged and performing
- Incorporate weekly Biblical themes when appropriate or necessary
- Manage student behavior by implementing approved disciplinary procedures
- Observe and evaluate students' performance
- Adhere to camp schedule, policy, and procedures
- Supervise and interact with youth in class, between class, during lunch, recess, throughout camp activities, and on field trips
- Prepare and report assessments in Reading and Math at the beginning and end of City Camp
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
- Experience working with urban youth preferred
- Passionate about the holistic advancement of students’ education and spiritual lives
- Culturally competent and relational with excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Proven problem-solving and crisis management skills
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
- Strong decision-making abilities
- A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive
- Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
- Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
- Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
