Description
This class provides assessment and collection of individual, business, and property taxes for the City. Incumbents provide standard information, customer service, and tax account transaction processing tasks following prescribed procedures and instructions. As assigned, work may include preparing tax notices, public records, and legal / court records; communicating with taxpayers in-person, telephonically, and via correspondence; calculating and processing tax payments, including delinquent payments; reconciling accounts; performing desk audits; monitoring incoming and outgoing mail; handling payment records, making payment arrangements, and posting payments; issuing licenses, permits, and refunds; investigating delinquent taxes; preparing reports : and performing various administrative tasks.

Typical Percentage of Time (none less than 10%)
- ssists customers via phone, fax, emails, and walk-ins; updates accounts at the customer service front counter; files and retrieves documents. Resolves and responds to customers inquires. 40%
- ssesses and audits personal property accounts. Notifies taxpayers of delinquencies via letters, wage liens, bank liens, tenant liens, holds on vehicles, warrants, court summons, etc. 30%
- Processes business licenses, vendor permits, and licenses. Prepares state income taxes. Prepares payments. 15%
- Downloads and uploads reports; uses software to update accounts including skip tracing tools; ensures accuracy of records. 15%
