The IT System Administrator Principal is responsible for effective provisioning, installation / configuration, operation, customer support and maintenance of systems hardware, infrastructure application software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, infrastructure applications and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners. This individual will assist project teams with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases of new projects. Requires specialized depth and / or breadth of expertise; Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices; Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions; Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations; May lead functional teams or projects; Is recognized as an expert in own area within the organization; Progression to this level is typically restricted on the basis of business requirements.
