We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Coding Program II professional, in and around the Boston, MA area, to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the Medical Coding Program Manager in the development, implementation, and oversight of medical coding initiatives and ensuring compliance with industry standards and payer regulations. The Medical Coding Program II professional will assist in managing workflows, monitoring performance metrics, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize coding processes. This role will report directly to the Medical Coding Program Manager.
Key Responsibilities:

Program Support:

Assist the Medical Coding Program Manager in the coordination and execution of coding projects and initiatives.

Ensure adherence to coding standards, policies, and procedures.

Monitor compliance with coding guidelines, payer regulations, and organizational goals.

Coding Oversight:

Review and analyze medical coding data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Identify and address discrepancies or errors in coding and provide recommendations for improvement.

Stay current on updates to coding systems (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and industry best practices.

Performance Monitoring:

Assist in tracking and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) related to coding accuracy, productivity, and revenue cycle efficiency.

Collaborate with the Program Manager to develop strategies for improving performance and outcomes.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with the coding team, billing department, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth workflows and communication.

Act as a resource for team members by providing guidance and support in coding practices.

Serve as a liaison between the Program Manager and the coding team.

Training and Development:

Assist in the training and onboarding of new coding staff.

Participate in developing educational materials and conducting coding workshops or sessions as directed by the Program Manager.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Support quality assurance initiatives to maintain high standards of coding accuracy and compliance.

Participate in audits and reviews to identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical coding, with a strong understanding of coding systems, payer guidelines, and revenue cycle processes.

Certifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), AHIMA certification (e.g., RHIT, RHIA, CCS), or equivalent required.

Skills:

Proficiency in medical coding systems and guidelines (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
