What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mentor a Female High School Student in LA position at Minds Matter Southern California?
Make a meaningful impact on a high-achieving, low-income high school student by volunteering as a mentor with Minds Matter SoCal. At Minds Matter, we commit to long-term relationships with students, fostering a supportive community of diverse volunteers that feels like family. Mentors are the foundation of the organization and play a vital role in shaping a student’s future success. Your primary focus will be building trust and connection with your students, all while being supported by team leads and program heads through structured activities and assignments. Paired with a co-mentor and two students, you'll form a bond with your quad, guiding students in both academic and personal development. Together, you'll create a safe space for growth and inspire your students to dream big.
- Location : In-person, near USC
- Time Commitment : Saturdays from 12 : 30-2 : 30 pm during the academic school year (Attend at least 75% of the Saturday sessions) and virtual weekly check in with your quad
- Requirements : Bachelor’s degree required
- We ask mentors to stay with their students for their full Minds Matter journey whenever possible. If paired with a Sophomore student, this would be a 3-year commitment.
