Job Title: DISTRICT POLICE OFFICER

Contract Days: 207

Salary: $46,368

Reports To: Sergeant

Standard Duty Hours: Hours vary based on campus needs - M-F - Extra Duty When Needed

Mission: Provide a safe and secure environment where teaching and learning can occur, through a collaborative partnership with all Mineola ISD stakeholders.

Provide public safety services that include:

  • Patrol all exterior and interior areas of the campus.
  • Enforce and document any violations of Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Penal Code, Traffic Code, Education Code, Health and Safety Code, Family Code and any other code.
  • Support applicable Mineola ISD Board Policies and Administrative Procedures
  • Provide proactive patrol of the campus for violations of laws and suspicious persons and activity.
  • Respond to crimes or emergencies in progress.
  • Assist in restraining, apprehending, and escorting disruptive or detained individuals.
  • Respond to intrusion and fire alarms during school hours and provide on-site assistance to staff in the operation of the alarm system.
  • Respond to non-emergency calls for service relating to the District.
  • Assist law enforcement agencies that may be involved with district personnel or students.
  • Assist with, and/or coordinate Emergency Mental Health Response to the campus, as needed.
  • Investigate and document violations of the student code of conduct involving threats to safety.
  • Report any allegations of sexual abuse or suspected child abuse to Child Protective Services.
  • Investigate fires on campus and serve as a liaison with the appropriate emergency service providers.
  • Be alert for and report facility-related safety concerns.
  • Assist staff with reviewing and updating Districtwide Emergency Operation and Crisis Response Plans.
  • Conduct required Texas School Safety Center Safety Audits.

Provide direct support to campus administrators, faculty and staff by providing the following services:

  • Collaborate with Campus Principals to keep them informed of campus incidents/issues.
  • Keep front office informed of situations that require the officer to be off-campus.
  • Respond to classrooms to assist teachers with emergencies such as fights or persons with weapons
  • Patrol hallways at class change and lunch period(s).
  • Monitor and assist with intake and dismissal.
  • Provide presence as needed on campuses during public gatherings.
  • Assist the campus in conducting required safety and fire drills.
  • Review video surveillance system for incidents that occur on campus.
  • Support campus administration in child custody matters, Temporary Restraining Orders and Emergency Protective Orders.
  • Assist campus administrators with locating parents in cases of an emergency.
  • Provide support to administrators while they are dealing with disturbances.
  • Assist campus and district administrators, as requested, during job actions such as suspensions and/or terminations.
  • Assist campus staff with “threat assessments” on students and staff exhibiting alarming behavior.
  • Aid campus with traffic flow problems and provide feedback.
  • Coordinate with other emergency service providers when needed.
  • Participate in feeder pattern elementary school relationship-building.
  • Participate in training to maintain District and police department standards, aimed at increasing professionalism.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $46,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
