JOB SUMMARY:
The Finance / Data Specialist performs a variety of accounting and data input and analysis duties. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
- Advanced accounting/bookkeeping/computer literacy required;
- Accounting experience preferred; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position
Knowledge of:
- Current office practices and procedures;
- Advanced math and statistics;
- Customer service procedures and techniques;
- English grammar and punctuation;
- Accounting, bookkeeping, data gathering, analysis and computer systems.
Ability to:
- Operate standard office equipment and a personal computer and job-related software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and other required applications;
- Maintain complete confidentiality, within guidelines, of all payroll records and reports;
- Mathematically calculate information;
- Learn District functions thoroughly to provide general information and explain detailed District processes and procedures;
- Learn and explain regulatory compliance issues related to the District’s function;
- Maintain records efficiently and accurately and to prepare clear and concise reports;
- Analyze financial, statistical and testing data, reconcile accounts, and prepare reports;
- Create charts and graphs to summarize data tends and evaluate program effectiveness;
- File and maintain complex District records;
- Prepare accurate and grammatically correct written reports and prepare and maintain required records, logs, reports, and documentation;
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner;
- Perform duties accurately and efficiently under time-sensitive deadlines;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other District employees, supervisory personnel, vendors, and the public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (may vary by assignment):
- Enters data into district systems and applications;
- Prepares and submits ISEE uploads, including student data, to the State Department of Education;
- Prepares weekly student attendance and enrollment reports;
- Maintains Fixed Asset/Inventory Program and prepares required reports;
- Reconciles bank statements;
- Works closely with school secretaries, finance, personnel, IT, Federal Programs and Special Services to provide accurate data for ISEE;
- Answers incoming phone calls and greets walk-in customers, provides general information to the public, answers questions and inquiries, provides information about payroll and benefits, and provides referrals to other departments or staff as needed;
- Prepares, distributes and maintains a variety of documents, spread sheets, correspondence, log sheets, applications, and related documents;
- Completes special research assignments;
- Provides data entry services, faxing, typing, and filing in support of department functions;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures and safety practices;
- Cross trains with other district office functions.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES:
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay: $23.32 - $25.99 per hour
