Job Summary
Working under the direction of the Director of Ambulatory Clinics, the Clinic Manager will provide oversight to Minidoka Orthopedic Clinic staff. Duties include planning, coordinating, assigning, supervising and managing the work of professional and non-professional nursing personnel engaged in performing nursing services, in addition to the non-clinical staff. The Clinic Manager assesses, plans, implements and collaborates with other departments and services to ensure excellence in patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures staff accountability in implementing clinic processes.
Provides oversight of day-to-day processes and expectations of assigned staff.
Directs staff as needed to meet patient needs and in supporting providers and fellow team members.
Collaborates with the Director of Ambulatory Clinics in development and achievement of departmental team goals and objectives.
Plans and assists with implementation of assigned staff training, competency training and assessment, mentoring, coaching and evaluation.
Ensures staff is trained in current services and procedures for competency and best practice.
Ensures nurses are meeting safety and regulatory guidelines as mandated by the clinic, hospital or governing agencies.
Schedules staff to ensure appropriate coverage, including coverage for approved and/or unexpected absences.
Uses clinical thinking skills to trouble-shoot clinical issues.
Efficient time management and prioritization skills utilized in all functions.
Plans and facilitates monthly staff meetings.
Ensures all documentation and paperwork is accurate and timely.
Delegates tasks to assigned staff appropriately and supervises follow-up.
Participates in the functions of recruiting staff for the Minidoka Surgical and Specialty Clinic.
Reviews and finalizes all staff time and attendance records.
Monitors use of sick time and overtime on an ongoing basis and takes appropriate action to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the Clinics.
Maintains effective communication with all staff and providers. Continually strives to establish and maintain good rapport and working relationships to foster positive intra- and inter- departmental communications.
Employs tact, courtesy, and a positive attitude at all times, with patients, physicians, visitors and coworkers.
Provides reports and summaries as needed or requested.
Ensures staff understands and adheres to Minidoka Memorial Hospital and Minidoka Surgical and Specialty Clinic’s policies and procedures.
Actively participates in the development and implementation of the departmental strategic plan.
Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times, discussing patient, clinic or hospital business only when appropriate.
Provides service excellence through customer satisfaction surveys, personally and through all clinical staff.
Actively engage in quality improvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years’ experience in the ambulatory/medical clinic setting.
Three (3) years’ experience in a management role.
Preferred Requirements
Associate’s degree or higher in a related field of study.
Five (5) or more years of experience in a management role.
Skills/Competencies
Strong written and verbal skills.
Basic computer knowledge and understanding.
Excellent communication skills.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is required to walk or sit; and must be able to smell in order to detect changes in odors. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for reading medical records, monitors and other equipment; distance vision to be able to observe patients, monitors across the room; color vision to observe patient for changes, color of fluids; peripheral vision to function in emergency situations involving many staff members; and ability to adjust focus while looking from patient to other areas.
