The Job
The Native American Fellowship position provides an opportunity to work with the Chair of the Arts of the Americas, and other museum professionals to enhance skills and experience through research, care, curation, partnerships, and interpretation of Native American art, as well as learn about all aspects of museum work by interacting with staff from Advancement, Audience, Curatorial, Registration, and Facilities.
In this role, you will…
1. Assist on projects for the Arts of the Americas’ curatorial team including exhibition development, curation, research, history, culture, language and scholarship opportunities utilizing archives, or community knowledge.
2. Support the Chair of the Arts of Americas in research related to National Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) Program.
3. Support Native community outreach and partnerships by collaboration with Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Hocokata Ti Cultural Center in partnership with the Native Relations Team and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer.
4. Build relationships with tribal communities to ensure projects are conducted in a culturally sensitive manner.
5. Participate in other Mia groups such as Native American programming and interpretations and the Native Relations cross functional team.
6. Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
· Bachelor of Arts/Fine Arts degree or higher, or equivalent experience
· Must be able to demonstrate significant connections to or relationships with a Native community
· Strong research and data analysis skills
· Ability to travel within the metro area
· Must be able to work some evenings or weekends as required
