Summary
Provide engaging classroom activities and lessons focusing on work readiness, professional development, and social skills for students typically 14 to 18 years old in Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board’s (MPRB) Teen Teamworks summer employment program. Must be available mid-June through mid/late August 2025. Must be available to work Monday through Friday (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. alternating Fridays).

What You'll Do
- Implement and contribute to MPRB’s high quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum for high school-aged youth in collaboration with MPRB’s Youth Employment staff.
- Deliver lessons and MPRB’s required educational/learning assessments in-person to youth at different classroom locations.
- Maintain a high quality and professional classroom environment.
- Communicate closely with Teen Teamworks and MPRB staff on a regular basis.
- Develop working relationships with other MPRB and Teen Teamworks staff.
- Engage with and provide effective leadership to youth from diverse cultural backgrounds and experience.
- Track youth attendance and performance.
- Collaborate with Teen Teamworks and Youth Employment staff to coordinate special tasks as needed.
- Collaborate effectively and be capable of independent work.
- Model and maintain composure and order in a classroom setting
What To Bring
Need To Have:
- Experience as a classroom teacher: three (3) years minimum
- Experience with program and curriculum development : three (3) years minimum
- Multilingual preferred
- Valid teaching license preferred
- Principles and best practices of curriculum building
- Principles and best practices of youth learning and development
- Principles and best practices of effective communication and relationship building.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
- Understand directions and verbally communicate in English.

You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.
