What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Preschool Instructor position at Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (Temp)?
Role Summary
Morris Park is accepting applications for an experienced part-time Preschool Instructor to provide safe, dependable programming for preschool age children (ages 3-5 years old). This position is for year-round programming at Morris Park. Ensure the environment and recreation-based curriculum provides learning experiences to meet each participant’s needs.
School-year schedule of up to 25 hours per week with hours from 9:00am – 2:00pm Monday – Thursday. Summer schedule 16-20 hours per week with hours typically between 9:00am-1:00pm.
Required Skills & Abilities
Ensure every registered child is safely supervised and accounted for throughout each day.
Plan, organize and develop recreation activities and program curriculum (indoors/outdoors with some educational components) to provide sufficient recreation choices for children between the ages of three and five years old.
Provide direction to part-time Recreation staff (if applicable).
Appropriately and effectively take action when needed due to injuries involving children in a timely manner.
Accurately maintain attendance records for the program.
Facilitate inclusion of children with special needs through collaboration with park staff,
parent/guardian, therapeutic recreation staff and the Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Coordinator.
Develop and facilitate programs and procedures in compliance with MPRB policies and standards.
CPR and First Aid certifications required within one (1) month of hire.
Minimum Qualifications
Four semesters of coursework from an accredited college or university with a focus in child/youth development, education, recreation or closely related field.
Professional work experience programming or supervising preschool for children ages 3-5 years, for at least one year.

Equivalent work experience and additional continued education: at least three (3) years combined.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in child/youth development, education, recreation or closely related field.
Background Investigation
Must complete and pass a criminal background check.
Compensation
$19-$22 per hour
Hours
Approximately 16-24 hours a week (depending on the season).
