What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outdoor Supervisor – Athletics position at Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (Temp)?
Role Summary
Staff are expected to monitor outdoor facility areas to ensure safety for scheduled park programs, leagues, and daily facility users. Communicate with citizens and develop positive relationships with park users by providing assistance and information. Provide support with check ins, monitoring field/court activities and reservations, supporting league operations as needed. Enforce City and MPRB regulations as appropriate. Communicate maintenance needs to supervisor. This position will primarily work outdoors and may travel between locations within the same workday.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Ensure a safe environment for all park users by providing education about MPRB policies and procedures.
- Act immediately to address inappropriate behaviors by contacting appropriate staff or other emergency personnel as necessary.
- Monitor activities and attendance on grounds; write incident reports and recommendation reports related to park use.
- Ensure amenities are being utilized by scheduled user groups and programs.
- Monitor daily park outdoor recreation actives and operations.
- Promote recreation opportunities on site and provide information about park facilities and programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience involving extensive interaction with the public
- Must pass a background check.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with a diverse community using courtesy, tact, and good judgement.
- Explain and enforce rules of conduct or other applicable MPRB and City rules and policies.
- Exercise authority appropriate to various circumstances.
- Work independently with general supervision.
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to perform assigned work independently and responsibly, as well as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and complete physical tasks (lift, carry, pull)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual
- Previous experience working in diverse and dynamic communities in the public sector
Compensation and Benefits
$15.57 – $20 per hour.
You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.
Hours
10-30 hours/week.
Background Check
We conduct a background check. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant will be asked to sign an informed consent allowing the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to obtain their criminal history in connection with the positions sought. MPRB Background Check Policy . The MPRB will be in compliance with Minnesota’s Department of Human Services fingerprinting requirements.
