Minneola Community Sports Youth and Adult Referee – Job Description
Job title - Adult/Youth Sports – Referee
Salary - $25.00 per hour (No benefits)
Job Type – Part time, evenings and weekends
The Position
Minneola Community Sports is seeking an energetic, personable, and knowledgeable of officiating one or more sports, but not limited to basketball, volleyball, futsal, and dodgeball. This position is responsible for officiating youth and adult sports programs.
This position will require evening and weekend work for most if not all of programming, as well as other times depending on program schedules.
Example of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ø Officiate assigned games for leagues and tournament play Ø Assist in field/court set up and tear down.
Ø Ensures guidelines, rules and sportsmanship are enforced.
Ø Conducts safety and related inspections.
Ø Responsible for checking equipment before and after games.
Ø Conduct one-self in a professional manner at all times.
Ø Help keep gym, seating areas and equipment clean & properly maintained at all times;
Ø Report any problems with captains, coaches, players, parents or spectators to the Sports Coordinator or AD.
Ø Ensure safety of staff, participants and spectators.
Ø Arrive at schedule time and work until all tasks are completed.
Ø Communicate with all coaches before the game and review any ground rules, unusual circumstances or local facility hazards.
Ø Ensure that all players are properly equipment to play the game.
Ø Remain unbiased while officiating a contest and will avoid verbal contact with spectators.
Ø Sign and turn in Incident Reports to AD or Sports Coordinator
Ø Other duties as assigned by the AD or Sports Coordinator.
Education and/or Experience:
- Knowledge of sports rules and officiating techniques and responsibilities.
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Mature, and responsible
- Previous officiating experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate, be courteous and cooperate with other staff members and the public.
- Ability to operate sports equipment related to program.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Schedule:
- After school
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
