The Department of Corrections is hiring a Corrections Teaching Assistant at our Red Wing facility! The position exists to provide support and assistance of teachers in the delivery of education delivery, student learning, and credit recovery in a well-managed and comprehensive learning environment to support students Personal Education Plans.
This position is located at a Minnesota Correctional Facility and will have contact with students who are incarcerated.
Minimum Qualifications

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) does not participate in E-Verify. The DOC will not sponsor applicants for work visas, including F-1 STEM OPT extensions. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

- Experience in an educational or office setting
- Ability to effectively operate office equipment
- Experience using email, calendar, presentation, word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office or similar)
- Ability to read, speak, and write in English
- Ability to tutor students in reading, writing, math, and educational technology
- Skills in records management sufficient to gather and maintain statistical and other data for reporting purposes
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with a diverse population

- Completion of an Associate's degree or higher
- Experience and skill in educational program platforms sufficient to monitor and manage a computer lab
