This position acts for the CFO in resolving most internal matters within the department where financial matters are concerned, keeping the CFO advised daily on such actions. The incumbent functions in an acting capacity in the absence of the CFO, technically responsible for the full range of fiscal activities including accounts payable, incarcerated person trust accounts, staff payroll, procurement, health services finance, and MINNCOR Industries, acting on self-initiative in recognizing problem areas or issues. The Deputy CFO actively participates with the CFO and other management officials in formulating major operating policies and plans for use across the agency.

Minimum Qualifications
- Five (5) years of progressive finance or accounting experience including development of finance policy, budgets, and / or funding strategies. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Policy or related field may substitute for one year of experience; a Master's degree in one of the above areas may substitute for 18 months.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, which may include experience as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, project lead, or completion of a State of Minnesota leadership program (e.g., ELI or SLI).
- Demonstrated experience with results and change management.

Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and / or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and / or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history / reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
