This Epidemiologist Senior exists in the Programs & Partnerships Unit of the Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Section in the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Prevention and Control (IDEPC) Division to analyze HAI/AR and antibiotic stewardship data from the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and other sources to inform the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives addressing HAI/AR and antibiotic stewardship across the healthcare continuum.

This position will:
- Act as a subject matter expert on NHSN data for IDEPC and outside partners.
- Collaborate with other epidemiologists to coordinate data related to HAI/AR and antibiotic stewardship as appropriate.
- Guide data visualization initiatives related to HAI/AR and antibiotic use data.
- Lead in the preparation of reports for publication and sharing results with key stakeholders and the public.
- Collaborate with team members to develop educational presentations, training activities, and job aids to support key stakeholders in addressing identified gaps in HAI/AR prevention and antibiotic stewardship.

- Four (4) years of experience designing and conducting epidemiologic investigations and/or surveillance activities.
- Successful completion of a minimum of four (4) graduate quarter credits or three (3) graduate semester credits in each of the following two areas: Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
- A thorough understanding of the principles of infection prevention and control, antibiotic resistance, and the importance of antibiotic stewardship.
- Knowledge of and experience in the maintenance of surveillance systems, database development, data analysis and data interpretation.
- Proficiency in creating and managing databases and conducting analyses using programs such as Microsoft Excel, REDCap, Microsoft Access, and SAS.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and relay information and disease prevention and control recommendations to health professionals, other professionals, and the public.
Preferred Qualifications
- A master’s degree in an accepted area of concentration.
- Expertise in infectious disease modeling, data science, and analytics (e.g., SIR models, decision analysis, machine learning).
