Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead ADA Compliance Efforts: Oversee the agency’s compliance with Title I (employment) and Title II (government services) of the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1974, and other relevant state and federal civil rights laws.
- Manage Accommodation Requests: Review, assess, and make decisions on requests for reasonable accommodations for employees, job applicants, and program participants, ensuring a fair and equitable process.
- Interactive Process Facilitation: Lead the interactive process for ADA accommodation requests, partnering with managers and employees to identify effective solutions that support the needs of all stakeholders.
- Policy and Program Development: Provide strategic guidance on the development and implementation of policies and projects that enhance ADA compliance and promote inclusive practices across DCT.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver ADA training programs to employees and leadership, ensuring ongoing awareness of compliance requirements and best practices.
- Stay Current on ADA Regulations: Monitor and analyze changes to ADA laws and regulations, ensuring the agency remains compliant and responsive to evolving requirements.
Three (3) years’ experience working with the ADA and its regulations, which must include:
- Coordinating reasonable accommodations requests for a wide variety of requests.
- Understanding of Title and Title II of the ADA and its amendments as well as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Familiarity with Federal and State civil rights laws such as MHRA, EPA, ADEA, and other civil rights regulations.
- Developing and delivering training focused on ADA compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or similar law degree from accredited law school.
- Master’s degree in human resources, organizational management, or a related field.
- ADA Coordinator Certificate or other related ADA certifications.
- Experience with digital accommodation tracking systems (e.g., LaborSoft).
- Knowledge of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
- Trained in mediation or alternative dispute resolution techniques.
- A commitment to cultural responsiveness and experience working effectively with diverse groups.
