What are the responsibilities and job description for the Highway Maintenance Worker position at Minnesota Department of Transportation?
MnDOT District 6 has multiple vacancies at the following locations : Albert Lea, Austin, Caledonia, Cannon Falls, Chattfield, Dodge Center, Dresbach, Houston, La Crescent, Preston, Red Wing, Rochester, Rushford, Spring Valley, Stewartville, St. Charles, Wabasha, Wilson, Winona, Zumbrota.
Some examples of work for this position are listed below but not limited to the following :
- Perform all activities required for roadside maintenance.
- Perform all roadway surface maintenance activities.
- Provide traffic control.
- Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
- Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
- Performs preseason snow route inspection and performs post storm cleanup.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One year of experience performing activities in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities (roadway maintenance, driving commercial vehicles, landscaping, operating heavy equipment or farm experience)
Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with no Air Brake Restriction or a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with no Air Brake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement.
Successful completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (of at least 60 semester credits; or 90 quarter credits) will substitute for one year of experience.
