This is a full-time Housekeeping position at the Minnesota Veterans Home - Hastings Domiciliary (DOM) which is a board and care setting for Veteran residents. This position will perform a variety of Housekeeping responsibilities, including but not limited to:
The Hastings DOM is located in the southeast metro with connecting highways for an easy commute. The beautiful 128-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Vermillion River.

This is a full-time Housekeeping position at the Minnesota Veterans Home - Hastings Domiciliary (DOM) which is a board and care setting for Veteran residents. This position will perform a variety of Housekeeping responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Maintains building floors and hallways using machine or manual processes by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing and stripping wax, and vacuuming and scrubbing carpets
- Clean windows, ceilings and walls by determining appropriate cleaning agents, mixing chemicals, and applying them
- Clean and maintain rooms and furniture by dusting, moving, rearranging, setting up or taking down tables and chairs, and making minor repairs to furniture
- Cleans restrooms by scrubbing floors, sinks, stools; maintaining supplies of soap and paper products and emptying wastebaskets and trash containers
- Cleans assigned state-maintained sidewalks by shoveling snow, applying sand and/or de-icers, and removing ice, rubbish and other materials
- Assist in distribution of clean linen and pick-up of soiled linen, stripping bed linens; itemize and count clean linen

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment
- Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely
- Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to operate and use them effectively and make minor repairs
- Use hand tools and handle fairly light materials manually
- Perform work functions using ladders and scaffolding
- Perform laundry functions
- Function in adverse weather conditions
- Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction
- Make minor mechanical repairs to maintenance equipment
- Operate simple maintenance equipment
- Follow instructions, read and understand operational manuals, and keep simple records
- One year of floor care experience, including stripping, waxing and working with floor equipment
- Previous experience working with Veterans
- Experience working with vulnerable adults and maintaining confidentiality
This position requires successful completion of the following:
- A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
- A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) Screening or Chest X-Ray is required prior to employment.
