The Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis is looking for a full-time Office and Administrative Specialist Intermediate (OASI) - Health Unit Coordinator. This position will be responsible for the maintenance of the medical records on the nursing units; providing support to departments within the facility relative to the management of resident health information; maintaining systems that support resident care; scheduling interventions; entering information into the Electronic Health Record; and performing other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist with accurate and timely processing of provider orders; file and scan clinical documents; and maintain residents' medical records and charts so that information is organized and accessible.

- Perform various clerical functions so that unit efficiency is maximized.
- Maintain resident appointment database for resident appointments requiring transportation outside of Minnesota Veterans Home-Minneapolis.
- Follow protocols and checklists related to resident care in the electronic health records.
- Maintain resident information according to Data Privacy Laws so that resident privacy is maintained.
Minimum Qualifications

- Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand and accurately enter doctor’s orders, and develop and maintain a variety of medical records, files and forms.
- Skill in transcription sufficient to enter orders into the electronic health record.
- Effective communication skills sufficient to prepare written materials, read, explain and interpret a variety of materials, and follow instructions.
- Customer service skills (in person and on the phone) sufficient to provide effective office support to staff, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and use proper telephone etiquette that demonstrates professionalism and courtesy.
- Data entry skills sufficient to accurately enter doctor’s orders and resident care information.
- Typing/keyboarding, word processing, and database management skills sufficient to compose correspondence, maintain records, files, reports and summaries, create and maintain spreadsheets, and enter and maintain accurate data.
- Experience working at a long-term care facility.
- Experience entering doctor's orders into an electronic health record system.
- Work experience utilizing an electronic health record.
This position requires successful completion of the following:
