Job Description
As a Court Operation Leadworker II, you will perform the full range of lead and advanced court operations work, including case processing and advanced problem-solving responsibilities, under limited supervision of an assigned supervisor. You will regularly and independently handle complex and difficult matters and assignments and provide technical expertise to lower-level court operations staff. This position will require considerable knowledge of court operations principles, practices, policies and procedures to complete assignments. It requires the ability to work well on a team, including with the management team, lead worker team and divisional teams as well as the ability to work well independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide work direction to a group of lower level staff within an assigned division, section, or unit of the court, including reviewing court clerical and/or financial work for accuracy and compliance, answering case-related and procedural questions, scheduling assignments, coordinating workflow and monitoring workload and coverage within the unit, drafting procedural guidance and training manuals, overseeing and providing training to staff, providing feedback and training on use of computer systems, case processing, and court procedures, informing management of work progress, personnel issues, and backlogs, and assisting staff in meeting performance standards.
  • Perform the full range of court operations work within assigned unit, which may include case processing and courtroom duties in the areas of traffic, criminal, and hearing office, using electronic case processing system and related applications and equipment. Utilize applicable technology (i.e., operating and information systems and/or programs) and office equipment to perform and complete work assignments.
  • Transmit information between the Court Operations Supervisor and unit staff and applies independent decision-making while overseeing the unit in the supervisor's absence.
  • Apply independent decision-making in monitoring court operations processes to ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, rules, and guidelines; review and check the work of staff to ensure quality control; consults with supervisor on quality issues.
  • Lead, coordinate and/or participate in division/team meetings and trainings; maintain knowledge of court policies, processes, and procedures by demonstrating independent decision-making.
  • Provide recommendations on workflow and process improvements; makes suggestions for improved methods using technology; lead unit through change in conjunction with supervisor; distribute and explain information related to process, procedure, and rule changes to staff.
  • Serve as a liaison to justice partners; build and maintain professional working relationships with justice partners; independently addresses issues and concerns and resolve discrepancies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for court operations staff and others in the justice system, using advanced knowledge, expertise, and independent judgement to answer questions, address highly complex, unique, and/or urgent case processing situations, and independently resolve problems with limited, conflicting, or no guidance; analyze variable situations and circumstances and identify root cause of issues or problems; consider the impact of issues and trends and consults with supervisor.
  • Generating operational and audit reports, reviewing for accuracy, signing off and working with staff to correct.
  • Provide input to supervisor regarding performance appraisal of employees.
  • Review applicable committee agendas and supply feedback.
  • Work on special projects or special projects as assigned by supervisor or court administrator.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a Court Operations Associate or equivalent experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Paralegal or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous leadership experience, such as team lead.
  • Successful completion of leadership training e.g. Development In Action (DIA).
  • Experience training staff.
  • Considerable courtroom support experience.
  • Proficient with office and courtroom technology and troubleshooting techniques.
