Job Summary:
The Drop-In Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting drop-in members around Dakota County, to and from our drop-in center at the Minnesota Mental Health Clinics located at 3450 O’Leary Lane, Eagan, MN. The driver will operate a large passenger van and ensure that clients are picked up in the morning to attend drop-in programming and return home in the afternoon. This role is critical in supporting our daily programming and ensuring the timely and safe arrival and departure of members. Our drop-in center serves adults in Dakota County living with mental illness, and is a place of community, support, encouragement, validation, and safety for our members. The ideal candidates for this role will be welcoming of all individuals, kind, empathetic, friendly, and have a strong desire to work compassionately with the population we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Morning Transportation: Drive the designated van from the Eagan location to pick up drop-in members across Dakota County between 8:00 – 10:00 AM. Ensure all members arrive at the drop-in center by 10:00 AM to commence daily programming.
- Afternoon Transportation: Transport members from the drop-in center back to their homes between 4:00 – 6:00 PM.
Vehicle Operations and Safety:
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe, working condition.
- Maintain a safe driving record and adhere to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Be prepared to drive in all weather conditions safely.
Client Support:
- Demonstrate a warm, friendly, and respectful approach when interacting with drop-in members.
- Ensure that all clients feel safe and comfortable during transportation.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
Compliance:
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including those related to safety, confidentiality, and background checks.
- Communicate effectively with drop-in center staff regarding schedules, route changes, or any delays.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, including times and any incidents or irregularities.
- Be willing to undergo a background check as a condition of employment.
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Background check is required.
- Prior experience working with adults living with mental illness is preferred.
- Friendly, conversational, warm, and welcoming.
- Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with diverse individuals.
- Must be comfortable operating a large passenger van.
- Ability to navigate Dakota County efficiently.
- Willingness to work during the specified morning and afternoon shifts, Monday through Friday.
Schedule:
- Morning shift: 8:00 – 10:00 AM (Monday through Friday)
- Afternoon shift: 4:00 – 6:00 PM (Monday through Friday)
- Total weekly hours range from 5 to 20 hours, depending on the agreed schedule.
Environment:
- Driving a large passenger van throughout Dakota County.
- Working in various weather conditions while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Employment Type:
