Join The MPCA Closed Landfill Team As a Supervisor Of Closed Landfill Unit 1 In The Remediation Division, Leading a Dedicated Team To Manage Closed Landfill Sites. This Position Involves Leading Work Groups Focused On

  • Land management, including the implementation of land use controls and enabling the reuse of closed landfill properties
  • Environmental monitoring for contamination at and around closed landfills, including potentially at-risk drinking water and indoor air receptors
  • Operation and maintenance of closed landfills, including landfill gas systems, leachate systems, and groundwater remediation systems
  • Closed landfill and environmental remediation construction projects to address human health and environmental risks

The work also involves significant administrative and fiscal aspects to optimize resource utilization and maintain compliance with state and program administrative requirements. Additionally, partnerships with local units of government and the public are increasingly important for the success of the program. You will support this work by facilitating engagement with community groups, stakeholders, and the public to promote collaboration and transparency. Why join us? Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of supervisory experience in environmental protection/pollution control,

OR

  • Two years of advanced professional experience in environmental protection/pollution control. Examples for internal candidates – (Environmental Specialist 4, Planner Principal, Hydrologist 2, Engineer 2 Graduate, Research Scientist 2, or related classes).

OR

  • Three years of environmental experience performing work equivalent to an Environmental Specialist 3 level or senior level work directing, designing AND developing criteria for environmental programs.

OR

  • Equivalent combination of the above.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the principals and practices of environmental cleanup projects

Knowledge of environmental regulations, administrative practices and budgetary processes

Knowledge of government environmental administrative regulations, administrative practices and budgetary processes

Ability to effectively communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.

Ability to resolve complex environmental issues

Ability to identify work objectives, implement work strategies, and measure results

Ability to lead teams through change

Ability to effectively address conflict in the workplace

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

Additional Requirements

Position duties may require travel, but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will needtheir driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
