Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Editing
- Write articles for the website
- Ensure content is clear, engaging, and optimized for digital platforms
- Maintain brand voice, style, and quality standards
- Create compelling headlines, meta descriptions, and call to action
Content Strategy & Planning
- Plan and oversee content for websites
- Align content with SEO strategies, business goals, and Google trends
- Update and refresh older content to maintain relevance.
Research & Fact-Checking
- Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, target audiences, and relevant topics
- Verify facts, statistics, and sources to ensure accuracy and credibility
- Stay updated on competitors' content strategies
SEO & Digital Optimization
- Optimize content for search engines (SEO) and user engagement.
- Use keywords, meta descriptions, and best practices to improve search rankings.
- Monitor website traffic and make content improvements based on analytics.
Multimedia & Visual Content Management
- Integration of images, videos, and interactive media into content
- Collaborate with designers, videographers, and social media teams
- Ensure visuals align with editorial and branding guidelines
Content Management & Publishing (after 30 days or less)
- Publish content
- Format and structure content for optimal readability and user experience
- Ensure timely publishing of articles
Logistics
- Review newswires (NNPA, NewsBreak, Word in Black) for additional stories, up to five a week.
- Place all stories in the weekly Digital Folder on the Display Drive; alert the managing editor each time a story is ready for review. Once edited, stories are ready for publishing on the MSR website.
- Schedule and publish in-house and wire service stories on the MSR website via WordPress, up to 20 stories each week and no less than two each day.
Professional Development & Engagement:
- Attend and actively participate in weekly Publisher/Editorial meetings.
- Develop and maintain contacts and industry resources.
- Stay informed on current affairs and trends by regularly reading and researching.
- Participate in one company event per quarter (four annually).
Additional Duties:
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Knowledge of SEO and content marketing
- Experience with WordPress
- Strong Organizational and project management skills
- Close attention to detail
- Time management is a must
- Ability to work with little direction and independently
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
