Job Description
Under general supervision, this position exists to serve to provide an array of accounting services for a large university. This position is primarily responsible for the administration and reconciliation of the University’s Purchasing Card Program. The position provides the continuous training and oversite needed to collaborate with supervisors and senior managers to utilize the system with their users. The position is also responsible for the accounting of all internal service centers utilizing the Minnesota State ISRS system’s cost allocation module, as well as the disbursement and reconciliation of the University’s disbursement processes of Accounts Receivable (Financial Aid), Student Payroll, and Accounting modules. The position also serves to assist the Accounting Director and the Assistant VP for Budget & Business Services with financial statement reporting duties and special accounting projects.
Salary Range: $22.57 - $31.89 / hourly; $47,126 - $66,586 / annually
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems.
- Knowledge of the Minnesota Accounting and Procurement System (MAPS), or other private or governmental accounting system, sufficient to query and compile records and reports, and assist with preparation and maintenance of spending plans, financial status reports and budget requests.
- Working knowledge of electronic spreadsheets, word processing software, computers and other office equipment such as calculators.
- Mathematics skills sufficient to calculate, review and reconcile data and balance accounts.
- Ability to design, interpret and explain work procedures and operations and provide advice on fiscal policies and procedures.
- Ability to read and write a variety of materials in English.
Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
- Human relations skills and the ability to communicate efficiently, in both written and oral form, are necessary in the daily association with both internal and external clientele.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
