Our Primary work area is the Twin City Region, but we have completed work in MN, ND, SD, IO, WI, CA, OH and FL.
Job Description:
This is a full-time role for a Project Manager/Estimator in our Earthwork or Utility Division at Minnesota Utilities & Excavating. This role will require being on-site at our office in Forest Lake, MN and travelling to jobs for onsite visits and meetings. Some travel out of the Twin City location will be required depending on future job opportunities. This position will be responsible for preparing full estimates from quantity takeoffs to bid submissions. Project management will entail securing project contracts, setting up project budgets and billing information, prepping documents and information for field superintendents, vetting and managing sub-contractors, inspections, and logistics management tasks on a day-to-day basis to ensure project success.
Role Description:
- Responsible for seeking public and private bid invites through company client relations via online plan rooms and employees prior contacts.
- Prepare full estimates from large complex projects to small projects including: preparing takeoffs, calculating quantities, determining productions, obtaining subcontractor quotes, reviewing plans, and reading specifications.
- Responsible for overall management of multiple projects, from pre-construction meetings to close out documents.
- Review labor and material costs to allow for accurate monthly billings.
- Manage RFI’s, T&M billings, and change orders.
- Coordinate with field superintendent on project durations and daily tasks to ensure a successful project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or 2-year construction trade school.
- Preferably 5 years of related construction experience from project management to field work in the commercial Earthwork and/or Utility divisions.
- Experience with AGTEK takeoff program or similar experience with an earthwork takeoff program.
- Proactive knowledge and skills with Bluebeam.
- Experience and efficiency with Excel/Word/Outlook.
- Strong knowledge with reading civil drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and maintain responsibilities in challenging situations.
